About the position

The EDS / Module Header Connections and Components TS Position is needed to lead the evaluation, development and robust design/implementation of advanced technologies/materials, and future connection/termination systems. The increase in Electrical & Electronic features and systems and complex Electrical Architectures for both Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) EDS has led to significant wire harness Connection Systems design complexity and packaging challenges. The scope of EDS Connection Systems design and development spans hundreds of HV and LV components over many global vehicle programs. Further, growing adoption rates in EVs, multiplexing, and high-power components increase constraints on vehicle packaging necessitating the need for advanced technologies in EDS Connection Systems to facilitate Connector Standardization, module/component size reduction and optimal harness routing in this environment.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Expert for EDS / Device Header Connections and Components.
  • Ownership/author and governance of EDS / Device Header Connections and Components Design Standards and supporting materials and processes.
  • Ownership/author and governance of EDS / Module Header Connections and Components quality robustness foundation documents.
  • Contributor to requirements focused on EDS, Electrical Architecture, devices, etc.
  • Lead for Technical Design Reviews and Sign-off on EDS / Module Header Connections and Component designs.
  • Technical Expert for EDS / Module Header Connections and Components related resolution of field/launch issues.
  • Lead for advanced technology plans for header connection systems.
  • Safeguard EDS Connection Systems Technology and Implementation.
  • Design and Testing including implementation of Connection Systems into electronic modules.
  • Manufacturing considerations with in-house and supplier sources.
  • Commodity strategy development and ownership for Connectors, Terminals, Seals, etc.
  • Vehicle Assembly and Connection System ergonomics.
  • Ownership of requirements, performance specifications, Design Rules, verification methods.
  • Ownership of generic EDS / Module Header Connections and Components Robustness Documents.
  • Lead EDS / Module Header Connections and Components Technical Design Reviews and signoffs.
  • Steering member of EDS and Connector Tech Clubs.
  • Represent EDS / Module Header Connections and Components in various tech clubs.
  • Ownership of Ergonomic and Thermal design standards.
  • Contribute to development/improvement of Requirements, Test methods.
  • Support development of EDS Mechanical and Electrical Joint requirements.
  • Global Leadership/Facilitation of root cause identification and prevent action implementation.
  • Provide consultation/leadership in resolving program reliability/robustness technical issues.
  • Support EDS Advanced strategies as Core Technical lead.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional organizations for EDS / Module Header Connections and Components.
  • Obtain continuous feedback from EDS teams to improve Technologies, specifications and documentation.
  • Lead and represent Ford at industry forums.
  • Lead the creation of and conduct training, seminars, mentoring.

Requirements

  • Experience in Electrical & Electronic features and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of EDS / Module Header Connections and Components design.
  • Experience with advanced technologies/materials in connection systems.
  • Ability to lead technical design reviews and sign-offs.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes related to EDS components.
  • Strong analytical skills for risk assessment and technology development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in electric vehicle (EV) technologies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and forums (e.g., SAE).
  • Experience in ergonomics and thermal design standards.
