About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Provides the discipline specific technical skills needed to support the daily operation of the assigned entertainment venue and/or event, including the handling and operation of high-risk pyro and pyrotechnic systems. Ensures technical show quality and a positive guest experience by applying intermediate level knowledge of pyro elements. Ensure proper completion of tasks and all UO and NFPA policies, procedures and regulations are followed. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the daily operation of the pyrotechnic elements within the assigned entertainment venue and/or event. This includes the handling of explosive material and acting as a fire watch. Responsible for the careful loading of pyrotechnics to preserve show quality. Maintaining the proper load layout as directed by venue training and show direction. Responsible for completing pyro load and post-show cleanup, resets. Ensure that all pyro waste is disposed of properly and document any issues with pyro product. Assist with the appropriate maintenance and inventory of venue equipment/supplies as assigned for proper operation, organization, and cleanliness. Notify appropriate leadership of any materials needed and any repairs needed beyond basic maintenance of the venue/show. Troubleshoot and identify technical issues and when to escalate to the appropriate maintenance team and Management. Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years’ experience using technical control systems, likely within the theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity preferred.
  • Proven ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Intermediate knowledge in technical disciplines needed to operate assigned venue.
  • Basic computer skills with basic experience in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver License.

  • Associate degree (AA): is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree: is preferred.
