About The Position

Interact with Shift Supervisor, Area Supervisor, other Team Leaders, and Manufacturing associates to assess requirements, develop plans, and provide needed materials and direction for the purpose of assisting employees to safely operate equipment to make product that meets the Customer’s expectations at levels of quality and productivity that meet or exceed the established plan. Is assigned to a specific module/cell and designated equipment, or product line.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree in Applied Science in Business, Engineering or Manufacturing preferred) or equivalent work experience in the Quality Assurance function.
  • Requires a minimum of 1-year experience in manufacturing operations (2 years experience preferred).
  • A working knowledge of delube, deflash, double disk grind, shot peen, white light inspection, video ink jet, magnetic particle inspection and dip tank operation is required in the forging operation.
  • A working knowledge of molding, sintering, sizing, tumbling, cnc, hone and MPI in the Conventional operation.
  • Knowledgeable in the following: IATF 16949 Quality Systems Requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain attendance records of assigned employee’s.
  • Coordinates and provide directions to assigned manufacturing employee on how to do their assign task(s). This includes hands on training.
  • Ensure that the assigned area(s) equipment is operating properly and safely throughout the shift.
  • Assign Manufacturing employee to the appropriate operation.
  • Ensure that the manufacturing employee’s are following the appropriate conduct codes per Metaldyne’s (AAM) employee Handbook.
  • Frequently review the Quality of products following each process and provide feedback to Manufacturing Specialists to keep everyone in tune with the process.
  • Develop employees for further company growth.
  • Monitor, direct, and maintain workflow through assigned area in coordination with Supervisor to meet quality production goals.
  • Maintain identity and segregation of nonconforming material and communicate to Supervisor for guidance.
  • Verify that documented procedures and instructions are being followed (Std Work, Work Instructions, PM Schedules, etc……….).
  • Coordinate changeovers / setups at required operations per Supervisor guidance.
  • Plan changes for minimum disruption.
  • Complete Team Leader Report and verify the following for accuracy: Operation Productivity & Pareto sheets. Feedback on process and operation.
  • Maintain and report status of supplies at the operation line and inventory levels.
  • Assist in material handling tasks to maintain neat and orderly work area.
  • Monitor Communications Boards accordingly.
  • Follow work rules such as proper PPE and safety requirements
  • Process start-up and control
  • Cover absenteeism - escalate unplanned absenteeism (Support through machine/cell operation when needed)
  • Review standardized work and modify as needed
  • Training and implementation of standardized work (includes TPM) – Maintain training matrix
  • Auditing to ensure standardized work is being followed and corrected as needed
  • Continuous improvements of standardized work with Team Members
  • Modify standardized work when Takt time or model changes occur
  • Respond immediately to team member when abnormality occurs
  • Ensure parts / materials are supplied to the process
  • Monitor system to identify and relate findings for quick resolution to enable smooth flow of operations
  • OEE hourly count board update
  • Planned output vs actual output – detailed description causing gap (specify loss time to cause)
  • Defects – detailed description of cause
  • Unresolved OEE issues need to be transferred to action item list
  • Problem solving Lead problem solving with support needed through permanent resolution (5-WHY)
  • Complex problems need to be escalated to supervisor/team
  • 5S implementation, sustain, audit and continuous improvement
  • Lead Time reduction improvement
