Team Lead, MRI Technologist
About The Position
WakeMed Cary Hospital is seeking an experienced Team Lead, MRI to support our Imaging Services team. This role is ideal for an MRI Technologist who is ready to combine strong clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. The Team Lead, MRI Technologist provides high-quality diagnostic images by operating MRI equipment in accordance with physician orders and established safety procedures. This role also supports department operations by serving as a lead technologist, mentoring staff, and ensuring adherence to imaging protocols and quality standards.
Requirements
- Registered Technologist in Radiography (ARRT) (Required)
- Registered Technologist in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT-MR) (Required) OR Registered Technologist in Nuclear Medicine Technology (ARRT-NMT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) (Required)
- Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology (Required) or Graduate of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine (Required)
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in Radiology (Required)
- Experienced MRI Tech
- Leads with focus and competence for MRI safety
- Strong critical thinking skills that solves problems and triage patients for efficient workflows
- Excellence in written and verbal communication
- Ability to lead, train, and mentor staff by living the WakeWay — every patient, every time
Nice To Haves
- Exposure to ACR testing is a plus
Responsibilities
- Assist department leadership with daily operations and workflow coordination
- Support a productive, efficient, and team-oriented environment
- Train and mentor new and existing MRI technologists
- Evaluate staff performance and ensure competency through observation and coaching
- Promote adherence to best practices and protocol compliance
- Maintain accurate employee and patient records
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards
- Perform MRI procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic images
- Follow physician orders and established imaging protocols
- Record diagnostic results and enter required information into system(s) accurately
- Position patients and imaging equipment appropriately for each exam
- Adjust controls according to examination specifications to ensure optimal image quality
