About the position

The RN Team Lead at Mayo Clinic plays a crucial role in providing leadership and coordination of nursing care within the unit. This position combines formal and informal leadership responsibilities, focusing on patient care, staff development, and collaboration with management to ensure efficient operations. The RN Team Lead is accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care, while also supporting professional nursing practices across various settings.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a formal and informal leader on the unit.
  • Participate and collaborate with management staff for daily planning and coordination.
  • Delegate patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, and resource availability.
  • Provide leadership through staff development, teaching, precepting, and committee work.
  • Accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care and education.
  • Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and the continuum of care.
  • Function within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, ensuring accountability for all phases of nursing care.
  • May be required to provide direct clinical care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an associate degree or diploma in a nursing program.
  • One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting.
  • Documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing within five years for certain RN start dates.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team, making decisions to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Demonstrated leadership and effective communication skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and adaptability to unpredictable situations.
  • Computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Current RN licensure by applicable state requirements.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support certification.
