About the position
The Teacher SPED - Inclusion/Resource position at McCormick Middle School is designed for a Special Education teacher who will work with students with learning disabilities and emotional disturbances. The role involves creating an inclusive classroom environment and providing tailored educational support to meet the diverse needs of students. The position is part of a team that collaborates to ensure that all students have access to a quality education and the necessary resources to succeed.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices.
- Monitor and assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in both resource and inclusion settings.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
Requirements
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with learning disabilities and emotional disturbances.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators.
Nice-to-haves
