About The Position

The Family Partnership is hiring two(2) Teacher’s Aides to support Lead and Assistant Teachers at Four Directions, which is a full-day therapeutic education and care program for children aged 6 weeks to 11 years of age. Four Directions is committed to the revitalization of the Dakota and Ojibway languages. We work with our partner Wicoie Nandagikendan to provide language immersion and culturally responsive early childhood education.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in early childhood or childcare settings.
  • Genuine interest in working with young children.
  • Able to lift 50lbs (to lift children and/or equipment as needed) and engage physically in childcare routines.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully with children, families, and staff.
  • Willingness to learn infant, toddler, and preschool care practices.
  • Commitment to cultural responsiveness and trauma-informed care.
  • Hold CPR/First Aid certification or are willing to obtain it.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Indigenous cultures or languages.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting teachers during activities, transitions, play, outdoor time, meals, and rest.
  • Actively supervising children at all times.
  • Engaging children in developmentally appropriate interactions that support exploration, belonging, and independence.
  • Assisting children in regulating emotions, resolving conflict, and developing social skills.
  • Assisting with diapering, toileting, handwashing, and hygiene routines.
  • Supporting mealtime routines following CACFP guidelines.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting toys, materials, tables, and learning spaces throughout the day.
  • Maintaining safe, well-organized classroom and playground environments.
  • Supporting teachers in implementing cultural, academic, sensory, and therapeutic activities.
  • Reinforcing strategies provided by occupational therapists, speech clinicians, and mental health providers.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professional communication.
  • Demonstrating cultural humility in all interactions.
