About The Position

St. Pius X School is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-focused Teacher's Aide to support teachers and students in a faith-filled Catholic learning environment. The Teacher's Aide works collaboratively with classroom teachers to assist with instruction, supervision, and daily classroom operations while helping students achieve academic, social, and spiritual success. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children while working in a supportive school community dedicated to Catholic education.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or college coursework in education preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or educational setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, and families.
  • Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

  • Current and satisfactory BCI and FBI background checks or the ability to obtain them.
  • Must have attended or be willing to attend VIRTUS Protecting God's Children training.
  • High School degree is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and the understanding of the Catholic perspective; ability to multi-task and establish priorities; high level of integrity and professionalism; Ability to maintain flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and successfully operate under appropriate guidelines; light typing, filing and proof reading skills, excellent communication skills and knowledge of office equipment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software applications (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, write short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to customers, parents, and other visitors to the school.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use U.S. standards of currency and measurement.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials for lessons, demonstrations, classroom activities, and bulletin boards.
  • Operate classroom and office equipment, including computers, printers, photocopiers, and laminators.
  • Work with students individually or in small groups for instruction, enrichment, or remediation.
  • Provide additional support to students with physical, cognitive, behavioral, or language-based needs.
  • Assist in implementing accommodations and supports outlined in students' IEPs, service plans, or learning support plans.
  • Support students in the use of assistive devices and educational technology.
  • Assist teachers with grading assignments and collecting student performance data.
  • Collect and submit money for school activities, events, and fees as directed.
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers to complete daily assignments and responsibilities.
  • Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, recess, lunch, specials, field trips, and other school activities.
  • Assist with bus loading and car rider dismissal procedures.
  • Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules in a manner that promotes respect, responsibility, and the dignity of every child.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records, academic performance, behavioral information, and all sensitive school and family matters in accordance with school policies and applicable laws.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration.
  • Assist faculty in the context of classroom instruction, small group/individual tutoring, practice and drill.
  • Provide support in all areas of the classroom maintaining a clean, safe, and cheerful environment.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with administration, the students, their families, and volunteers; ensure that all feel welcome, and receive on-the-job training and communicate with parents on a regular basis.
  • Assist Teacher in completing all required reports and distributing them to the appropriate people at the appropriate time; and assist in maintaining up-to-date and accurate files for all students, safeguarding privacy of records and confidential information.
  • Eat and interact with students at meal times, serving as an appropriate role model to the students.
  • Be familiar with, and perform duties, according to established policies, procedures, and regulations as assigned/directed.
  • Performing supervisory duties as assigned.
  • Maintain appropriate and accurate records.
  • Assist Teacher with various projects as requested.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality is essential for this job.
  • Complies with federal, state and local safety laws.
  • Maintains a neat and safe work area.
  • Assisting in the production of educational materials.
  • Performing necessary clerical tasks; communication and interface.
  • Provide support in keeping a current inventory, including all supplies and equipment, and ordering supplies in advance to avoid unnecessary shortages.
  • Ensure that all classroom equipment is operational.
