About the position

The position involves identifying the educational needs of students and developing formal educational plans or programs to meet those needs. The educator will create lesson plans to teach various subjects and instruct students on effective study and communication skills. Observing students to evaluate their educational abilities, strengths, and weaknesses is crucial, as is working with them to improve their skills. The educator will teach and mentor students in different settings, including whole class, small groups, or one-on-one sessions. Communication with family members, counselors, administrators, and other teachers regarding student progress is essential. Additionally, the educator will work individually with students to help them overcome specific learning challenges and prepare for standardized tests as required by state regulations. Documentation of educational plans, goals, and progress is required, along with maintaining a positive learning environment and enforcing classroom rules. The educator will also supervise students outside the classroom and adhere to treatment plans while participating in treatment team meetings as needed. A positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards students and their families is expected, with a focus on patient safety as a top priority.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field eligible for teacher certification or license in the state.
  • One or more years of experience working with the population of the facility preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of developmental stages and behaviors for the age group of students.
