About the position
The Certified PE Teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School is responsible for supporting the school's mission to educate youth in a Catholic environment. This role involves teaching physical education while embodying and promoting the values of the Roman Catholic Church. The teacher is expected to create a positive learning environment, engage in the school's faith community, and maintain professional standards in all interactions.
Responsibilities
- Support the unique Catholic mission of the school by aligning teaching with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Model Gospel values and participate in school religious and service activities.
- Lead daily classroom prayers and demonstrate effective planning skills for lessons.
- Communicate effectively with students and organize classroom materials to maximize learning.
- Evaluate student progress consistently and effectively based on curriculum objectives.
- Establish a disciplinary approach that promotes self-direction and positive self-image.
- Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment and cooperate with school administration.
- Attend faculty trainings and meetings punctually and enforce school policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related field.
- Valid Arizona Standard Professional Teaching Certificate or Alternative Teacher Certificate.
- Strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Roman Catholic Church.
- Excellent communication skills, including written, oral, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in computer technology, including word processing and Excel.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in teaching physical education in a Catholic school setting.
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms such as Google Classroom.
- Level I of the Diocesan Ministry Certification.
