About the position

The Teacher/Offensive Coordinator position for the 2025-2026 school year is designed to facilitate the teaching and learning process within a positive learning environment, whether in-person, distance, or virtual. The goal is to help students acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become responsible, contributing adults in a democratic society.

Responsibilities

  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Enhance the academic growth of students through effective teaching practices.
  • Guide the learning process towards achieving curriculum goals by establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employ instructional methods and resources appropriate for meeting state objectives.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.
  • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports.
  • Diagnose learning disabilities of students and seek assistance from district specialists as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents regarding student achievement and the instructional program.
  • Accept responsibility for assigned co-curricular activities.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment for learning.
  • Implement the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Cooperate with staff in planning instructional goals and methods.
  • Maintain order in the classroom through fair rules and regulations.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Assist in upholding school rules and administrative regulations.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials.
  • Engage in professional growth through reading, workshops, and advanced coursework.
  • Be available for communication with district personnel, students, and parents.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate or appropriate out-of-state teaching certificate.
  • Must meet requirements under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) for highly qualified teachers.
  • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Effective communication skills and collaborative working style.
  • Ability to instruct students using various technology applications and platforms.
  • Ability to support students with technology issues in distance or virtual instruction.
  • Expertise in one or more academic areas or developmental age groups.
