About The Position

Certified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing who works with students with hearing loss across our continuum either in home districts or at our center-based location. The teacher will provide direct services per the IEP process to those students who have identified hearing loss; collaborate with members of the educational team, and promote interest in and an understanding of the implications of a hearing loss.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Professional Educator License
Ability to communicate using Total Communication
A valid driver's license
Ability to travel within the HILIA (Heart of Illinois Low Incidence Association) member districts in a timely fashion.

Nice To Haves

One to three years' experience as a Teacher of the Deaf
Experience managing an itinerant caseload
Ability to collaborate with a variety of educational professionals inclusive of local school districts, parents, Laboratory school staff, and ISU staff and students
Experience using, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment (CIs, BAHAs, FM Systems, and hearing aids)
Experience with diagnostic assessments and implementation of services based upon the data collected
Experience with training students and teachers in the use and care of amplification systems
Good organization and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members
