About The Position

First Children School is looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Teacher of the Deaf to join their team. In this role, you will work directly with students with special needs, providing individualized instruction, support, and encouragement to help them reach their full potential in the classroom and beyond. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or Early Childhood Education.
• NJ Teacher of the Deaf Certification.
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience working with children.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Patient, caring, and committed to helping children thrive.
• Collaborative team players with strong communication skills.
• Skilled at creating structured, engaging learning environments.
• Flexible, dependable, and passionate about special education.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with classroom staff, therapists, and families to create a supportive and engaging educational environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing and have diverse learning needs.
• Develop lesson plans aligned with student IEPs.
• Provide specialized instruction.
• Implement appropriate accommodations and behavioral strategies.
• Train classroom assistants to provide one-to-one support.
• Participate in annual reviews and team meetings.
• Help students build communication skills, confidence, independence, and academic success in a safe and positive learning environment.
