The teacher will be responsible for utilizing a variety of materials and activities to facilitate lesson objectives for students in grades 6-8. The role emphasizes engaging students in instructional involvement, demonstrating a caring attitude, and using effective questioning and motivational strategies. The teacher will actively monitor student learning, manage classroom behavior, and maintain a positive student/teacher relationship. Compliance with all board and school policies is expected, as is working within the philosophical framework of the school. Attendance at faculty meetings is required, and participation in curriculum research and study groups is encouraged as long as it does not affect classroom work. Professional conduct, including appropriate dress and mastery of written and spoken language, is essential. The teacher will prepare current lesson plans accessible to substitutes, practice a cooperative attitude with all stakeholders, and share responsibility for extended school activities and school/community affairs. A focus on the academic and social welfare of students, maintaining an orderly classroom, and directing student learning at an appropriate rate are key. Assisting students with missed work due to absences and using acceptable disciplinary methods are also required. The teacher must set a positive example, avoid prejudice, and engage with parents/guardians courteously and with open-mindedness regarding student progress and welfare. Maintaining high professional standards and upgrading skills through professional development are expected. Outside employment is permissible only if it does not interfere with professional duties or status. The administration may assign other duties as needed.
