About the position

The Tax Sr. Specialist at L3Harris plays a crucial role within the Corporate Tax Department, focusing on federal and state income tax compliance, financial reporting, and supporting various tax-related projects. This position requires collaboration with multiple departments and emphasizes attention to detail, analytical skills, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review U.S. federal and state & local income tax and franchise tax returns, including quarterly estimated payments and extensions.
  • Prepare components of federal taxable income including calculation of book/tax differences.
  • Compile and analyze data for key state tax estimates, including apportionment, blended tax rates, state modifications and attribute utilization schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations pursuant to ASC 740.
  • Prepare tax account reconciliations, and tax basis balance sheets to support federal and state income tax balances.
  • Assist in gathering, documenting and supporting the testing of all relevant SOX controls.
  • Perform tax research and document technical analyses as requested.
  • Assist with responses to audit inquiries from taxing authorities, and internal and external auditors.
  • Support special projects such as general tax planning, M&A support, and Research and Development credits.
  • Participate in tax process optimization and implement procedural changes to improve the tax function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience in accounting.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Excel.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships cross-functionally within the organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA, JD, or MST a plus.
  • Experience with a Big 4 or regional accounting firm and/or large tax department of a multinational company.
