About the position

The Tax Professional position at H&R Block is a seasonal, part-time role focused on providing tax preparation services to clients. The role involves conducting tax interviews, preparing accurate tax returns, and supporting clients with IRS-related inquiries. Tax Professionals will also have the opportunity to mentor teammates and contribute to business growth through client retention and additional service offerings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tax interviews with clients face to face and through virtual tools.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns.
• Generate business growth and increase client retention.
• Provide clients with IRS support.
• Offer tax notice services and audit representation as applicable.
• Mentor and support teammates.

Requirements

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or tax.
• Experience completing individual tax returns.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort with virtual tools such as video, phone, and chat.
• Effective communication skills in person, via phone, and in writing.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• CPA or Enrolled Agent certification.
• Experience completing complex tax returns (individual, trust, partnership).
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or tax.
• Experience conducting virtual tax interviews.
• Experience with tax planning and audit support.
• Sales and/or marketing experience.
