About the position

Moore Colson is seeking a dynamic and experienced Tax Processing Assistant to support its Tax practice area in Atlanta. This role is crucial for ensuring the Tax Department meets client expectations and supports the firm's long-term plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project coordination and administrative tasks, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency in tax processing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Help move projects toward completion by performing project and office administration tasks, including file management and maintaining project deliverables.
  • Assist with tax post-processing activities, including checking processed returns for accuracy and ensuring documents are signed.
  • Retrieve tax documentation electronically through multiple platforms, including SafeSend and Suralink.
  • Process and assist with releasing tax returns, both paper and electronically via SafeSend.
  • Archive copies of tax returns in Suralink and CCH Engagement Permanent Folder.
  • Roll forward Suralink tax return engagement folders on an annual basis.
  • Manage and track engagement letters and organizers.
  • Set up new clients in CRM.
  • Assist with the preparation, processing, and distribution of individual tax organizers via SafeSend.
  • Manage US Mail and FedEx for the Tax Department, including end-of-day drop-offs during busy months.
  • Provide responsive, accurate, and approachable customer service.
  • Consistently meet deadlines while maintaining high quality work and client relations.
  • Occasional phone assistance for lunch coverage.
  • Other administrative tasks and special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in an Administrative Assistant or project coordination position preferred.
  • High computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required).
  • Project management software experience preferred.
  • Must be self-directed, autonomous, and motivated, able to multi-task, and highly detail-oriented.
  • Proactive and exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed, including overtime and weekend hours during busy seasons.

Nice-to-haves

  • College degree preferred but not required.
  • Professional services firm experience preferred and tax support experience a plus.
