With approximately 280 team members located in Horsham, PA, we are currently seeking an experienced Not for Profit Tax Director to join our outstanding team and help us drive our mission forward. This individual will be responsible for leading and managing tax services for a diverse portfolio of not-for-profit clients, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations while providing strategic tax planning insights.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage tax compliance, consulting, and planning engagements for nonprofit organizations, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Provide strategic guidance on tax matters such as tax-exempt status, Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT), executive compensation, and charitable giving strategies.
  • Assist nonprofit clients with tax-exempt filings (Form 990, 990-PF, 990-T, etc.) and the preparation of supporting schedules and disclosures.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to mitigate risk, enhance efficiency, and maximize financial outcomes for clients.
  • Act as a key advisor to nonprofit leadership on best practices in governance, tax compliance, and organizational structure.
  • Manage client relationships with a focus on long-term partnerships and exceptional service.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior staff while fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with nonprofit tax laws and regulations, and proactively communicate changes to clients.
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives, business development, and marketing efforts to grow the nonprofit practice.

Requirements

  • CPA or JD with a strong background in tax, with at least 7-10 years of experience in tax compliance, consulting, and planning, specifically with nonprofit clients.
  • Deep understanding of IRS regulations, nonprofit tax law, and tax-exempt status requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex tax engagements and provide high-level strategic advice.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience managing teams and mentoring junior professionals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
  • A passion for the nonprofit sector and a commitment to supporting organizations that make a difference in the world.
  • Experience with tax preparation software and tools.
