About the position

The Tax Analyst position at WaterBridge Resources is a full-time role responsible for general tax accounting and compliance activities, including federal tax, sales and use tax, franchise tax, state income tax, severance tax, and property tax. The role involves preparing supporting work papers, assisting with tax research, and implementing technology to streamline tax compliance efforts. This position reports to the Tax Director and is part of the company's expansion efforts, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to the growth of the tax function.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing general tax accounting (ASC 740) and compliance activities, including federal tax, sales and use tax, franchise tax, state income tax, severance tax, gross receipts tax, and property tax.
  • Assisting with preparation of all supporting tax work papers for partnership federal and state compliance, c corp federal and state compliance, and facilitating the process with external advisors.
  • Assisting with calculations and reconciliations related to tax accrual items.
  • Supporting K-1 reporting efforts, as well as other tax compliance efforts.
  • Assisting with quarterly and annual reviews of income tax provisions related to public Companies within the tiered partnership structure.
  • Assisting with the quarterly checklist related to the REIT organization within the tiered partnership.
  • Assisting with the formulation of strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Liaising with external tax consultants and legal experts.
  • Assisting with preparing documentation and support for responses to federal and state tax audits.
  • Researching tax legislation, statutes, regulations, and rulings and assist with preparation of technical memos and support of tax positions.
  • Monitoring relevant tax legislation to proactively determine the impact of any proposed regulations to the Company.
  • Assisting with the preparation and management of tax budgets and forecasts.
  • Working closely with other finance, operational, and accounting groups to assist with providing advice and consultation.
  • Assisting with tax implications of M&A-related transactions.
  • Assisting with any ad hoc projects or requests.
  • Helping drive process improvement within the team and overall tax function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in accounting.
  • CPA Certification is highly preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years of relevant work experience in tax, preferably in the private equity sector.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to anticipate and proactively resolve issues.
  • Knowledge of investment partnerships, securities transactions, and various types of investments preferred.
  • Impeccable accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in using and applying Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in private equity sector tax compliance.
  • Familiarity with investment partnerships and securities transactions.
