About the position
The Tax Analyst I is responsible for preparing and filing basic state and local motor fuel tax returns, conducting basic tax research, and support One Tax in data collection and analysis. This role requires guidance and direction from senior team members and focuses on completing specific tasks to support the financial health and strategic goals of the organization. This position will work primarily on-site in Appleton.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file basic state and local motor fuel tax returns & related documents and respond to related notices & audits, as needed.
- Conduct basic motor fuel tax research and analysis.
- Support other tax analysts in data collection and analysis.
- Maintain and update motor fuel tax records and databases.
- Assist in the preparation of tax reports, data requests, and presentations for management and external parties.
- Perform routine tasks such as data entry, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
