About The Position

The Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and filing federal, state, and local tax returns while ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role supports tax planning initiatives, maintains accurate financial records, and provides analysis to minimize tax liabilities and support organizational decision‑making. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with multiple deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Experience in lieu of education is acceptable.
  • 1+ years of tax accounting experience in public accounting or corporate tax (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Experience with tax preparation software and ERP systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with file federal, state, and local income, sales/use, property, and payroll tax returns.
  • Conduct tax research and interpret tax regulations to ensure compliance and identify potential risks.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provisions, including deferred tax calculations and supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile tax accounts and maintain accurate tax records, schedules, and workpapers.
  • Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and advise on potential impacts to the organization.
  • Assist with tax planning strategies to optimize tax positions and reduce liabilities.
  • Review financial data for accuracy and completeness prior to tax preparation.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Payroll, and other internal teams to gather required information.
  • Prepare 1099 forms for the corporate division, and Business Units.
  • Support process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in tax workflows.
