About the position

KBR's National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will have a profound impact on the country's most critical role - protecting our national security. KBR is seeking a System Engineer to join an elite team providing Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services in Springfield, VA. The selected candidate will work multiple ground system projects and tasks-from broad, strategic issues (e.g. policies, concept of operations, etc.) to tactical concerns (e.g., near-term schedules, testing, system integration and transition, etc.) to support vital operational missions.

Responsibilities

  • Support Chief Engineer and government staff to execute systems engineering and integration (SE&I) activities across customer site and work collaboratively with other customer organizations across the mission enterprise.
  • Work with SE&I teams to execute site system engineering process; oversee site processes used to document and manage site baseline to accommodate evolving mission needs.
  • Collaborate with System Program Offices (SPO), local operations teams, and other Government Agencies to integrate various GEOINT space missions into a ground-based architecture; ensure the delivering organization understands site integration needs and processes.
  • Assist in developing standards, processes and procedures, and operations & maintenance plans; review and evaluate technical documentation (e.g. RFCs, CONOPS, requirements; issues and risks, etc.).
  • Represent government's interests at various forums; provide analysis and recommendations to multiple government customers.
  • Serve as liaison between GPOC and internal/external organizational project managers to guide and monitor progress.
  • Occasional CONUS travel.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) and nine (9) years or more experience; or master's in STEM field and seven (7) years or more experience.
  • Expertise in full system engineering life cycle; from concept, requirements, design & development, to deployment and operational maintenance.
  • Experience with project management supporting the delivery, integration, and transition of mission systems and/or mission applications.
  • Ability to work independently to support multiple government customers and large, complex projects to address organization's needs throughout system development lifecycle.
  • Self-starter, proactively addresses customer requirements without supervision; readily defines solutions for broad, abstract topics.
  • Polished communicator (written/verbal), impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment; and comfortable briefing or communicating with senior government managers.
  • Master at collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder.

Nice-to-haves

  • Real-time operations experience as a SIGINT or GEOINT spacecraft operator, spacecraft engineer, or ground systems operator; familiarity with space operations and policies, ground operations, and system requirements/governance policies.
  • Familiar with Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Agile development, cloud technologies.
