Systems Engineer IV - Data Science / AI / ML

About the position

Data science, analytics, and IT operations knowledge combined to drive efficiency of a high-volume, highly-available AIOps solution. Charter is transforming the way we drive satisfaction by leveraging AI/ML solutions to provide insights into where problems are occurring and automating fix actions. In this role you will be part of that transformation - you will apply development skills, data science, analytics, and IT operations knowledge to help expand this solution and drive overall operational efficiency. Responsibilities

• Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Designing, deploying, managing, and ensuring stability of the application and platform ecosystem and related back office infrastructure and data centers.
• Provide network security, high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability to effectively and efficiently support mission critical business systems.
• Demonstrates a high level of competence in IT operations, application monitoring, deployment and configuration management, availability and performance optimization, capacity management and forecasting.
• Cloud computing, datacenter operations troubleshooting critical issues, and coordination of implementation.
• Represent the Engineering Department working closely with Architects and Engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologies.
• Become a trusted member of our engineering team by demonstrating excellent communication and knowledge of all applications.
• Assist and lead efforts for design, redesign, and operational efficiencies as business objectives and strategies evolve.
• Mentor and train other Engineering personnel in key elements of networking systems and provide technical presentations.
• Research and identify technology opportunities and their application to the business.
• Test and validate all new hardware and software for proper configuration and performance.
• Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers.
• Ability to use personal computer and software applications.
• Systems knowledge (Linux, Unix).
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• In-depth knowledge in areas of specialty for specific applications, and general knowledge of supporting or integrating applications creating platform ecosystems.
• Basic Knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
• Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
• Expert knowledge of software designing software, such as Visio.
• Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• General knowledge of OSI stack and application architectures.

• Monitors and assists in managing the AIOps platform.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, clearly communicate orally and written updates on critical and non-critical projects.
• Ability to work independently as well as partnering with internal and external engineers to complete team projects and goals.
• Familiarity with Linux environments, data streaming with Kafka, and data storage in Splunk, Kibana, and Logstash.
• Knowledgeable with working experience in applying AI/ML concepts.
• Knowledgeable of REST architecture, SOAP protocol, and XML markup.
• Exposed to operational analytic or service assurance platforms (Moog, BigPanda, CA Spectrum, IBM Netcool/OMNIbus).
• Experienced in process review and design.
• Able to select technological solutions based on problem statements.
• Proficient in a scripting language such as Python, Perl or shell.
• Exposed to multiple database platforms and storage frameworks.
• Familiar with cloud-based architectures.
