The computer services team at Stark State College is seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Administrator. The Systems Administrator role will be responsible for the administration, maintenance (install and configuration), management, and support of the college's IT infrastructure (new and existing), including servers (physical and virtual), networks, and systems (Windows & Linux). The ideal candidate will ensure the stability, security, and efficient operation of all IT systems that support core organizational functions. This role is expected to provide server application support to other IT staff members and end users as necessary. This position is a remote/hybrid role, requiring one day a week in the North Canton (Main Campus) office. Typical working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility required for after-hours upgrades and support. The successful candidate will be proactive, balancing day-to-day troubleshooting with long-term projects to enhance the college's systems. Experience in installation, management, and upgrade of physical and virtual servers, as well as working in Active Directory environments with over 1000 users, is essential. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for server-based applications such as anti-virus solutions and backup software, implementing and overseeing server and storage policies to ensure the integrity and availability of the college's computing resources. This role also includes maintaining the college server environment to support both student and business computing needs, including antivirus protection, data backups, software patches, and specialized server-based applications. Additionally, the candidate will create and maintain documentation for disaster recovery and server systems and procedures, and participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24x7x365 Tier 3 support for critical business systems.
