About the position

The Systems Administrator I at Oneida Technical Solutions, LLC is responsible for maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the reliable operation of computer systems in a military environment. This role involves providing essential IT support, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the integrity and availability of information systems at Fort Johnson. The position requires compliance with DOD standards and a Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
  • Review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Manage and maintain all installed systems and infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users to resolve system-related issues.
  • Document issues, resolutions, and processes for future reference.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Manage software updates, patches, and security configurations.
  • Implement and maintain security measures in accordance with DOD 8140 standards.
  • Ensure systems are compliant with organizational security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Ensure data is backed up regularly and can be restored in the event of a system failure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in systems administration or a related IT role.
  • Must meet DOD 8140/8570 certification requirements (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of system administration, including hardware, software, and networking.
  • Proficiency in Windows/Linux server environments.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, providing support to other IT staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a DOD environment is a plus.
