About The Position

Atwell, LLC is seeking a Survey Crew Chief for their Power and Energy division. This role involves leading field operations on large boundary and renewable energy sites, including setting control, staking, and ensuring data accuracy. The position offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects such as expansive solar fields and large boundary surveys. Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience working as a Survey Crew Chief.
  • Strong understanding of large boundary surveys and the ins and outs of energy project work.
  • Confidence working with Trimble equipment and Trimble Business Center.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and survey data.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for bigger projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field operations on large boundary and renewable energy sites, setting control, staking, and ensuring data accuracy from start to finish.
  • Operate and maintain Trimble gear (total stations, GPS, data collectors).
  • Perform boundary, topo, construction layout, and as-built surveys.
  • Double-check and fine-tune field calculations.
  • Keep clean, detailed field notes.
  • Work independently or with a trusted crew member.
  • Mentor newer surveyors.
  • Participate in paid training, survey conferences, and development opportunities.
