About the position
The Survey CAD Technician role involves working in the field and utilizing CAD software, particularly AutoCAD and Civil 3D, to assist in civil engineering projects. The technician will be responsible for processing raw data, creating and modifying digital terrain models (DTMs), and accurately interpreting existing utilities from various record types.
Responsibilities
- Work in the field to gather survey data.
- Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil engineering projects.
- Create, modify, and fix digital terrain models (DTMs) and surfaces.
- Create and manage Point Groups in Civil 3D.
- Import data into a Survey Database.
- Create break lines from survey figures and modify existing survey figures.
- Interpret and map existing utilities from various record types including scans, JPGs, PDFs, and GIS data.
Requirements
- 2 plus years of experience using AutoCAD/Civil 3D for civil engineering.
- Proficient in Civil 3D skills including creating and modifying DTMs.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Understanding of the metric system and ability to convert between metric and English.
- Experience processing raw information from designers for project design.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with MicroStation V8 and GeoPAK.
- Familiarity with mathematical calculations related to surveying.
