About the position

The Surgical Supply Technician in Materials Management is responsible for processing stock requisitions and picking supplies for the surgery department. This role involves assembling trays according to a pick list, utilizing the correct method of wrap and appropriate sterilization. The technician will prepare and load supplies on carts, deliver and distribute supplies, and monitor the sterilization process to ensure all parameters are met prior to storage. Additionally, the technician will place stock received into proper inventory locations and label as required, monitor the integrity of wrapped instrumentation while in storage, choose the proper decontamination method for all equipment, and ensure policies are followed for Infection Control. The technician will consistently handle and dispose of hazardous waste in a safe manner as prescribed by hospital policy, assist storeroom personnel as needed, and maintain the storage area in a clean, orderly, and sanitary fashion.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year experience in shipping, receiving or distribution preferred
  • Experience with automated inventory control systems desirable
  • Exceptional computer skills essential
  • Working knowledge of stock operations, receiving, and distribution
