About The Position

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Surgical/Operating Room Tech for a full-time position at a Healthcare Facility (Acute Care/Academic Medical Center) in Syracuse, New York. This role is designed for an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with a background in trauma centers or teaching hospitals, who excels in a demanding surgical setting. Requirements

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
• Minimum of 3+ years of recent Operating Room experience (within the last 4 years).
• Experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center, teaching hospital, or similar facility.
• Scrub experience required.
• First-time travelers must have experience in similarly sized/level hospitals.
• Technical Skills (Required Experience in the following specialties): Trauma, Orthopedics (Ortho), General Surgery, ENT, Vascular, GYN.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain sterile technique under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred Experience in the following specialties: Neurosurgery, Bariatric, GU (Genitourinary).
• Experience in Adult OR or equivalent specialty size.
• No First Assist (per New York State regulation).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensuring all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are set up correctly and functioning prior to procedures.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sutures, and sponges during operations, anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
• Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection control protocols at all times.
• Handle specimens appropriately and prepare them for laboratory analysis as directed.
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping prior to surgical incision.
• Clean and restock the operating room between cases, including proper handling of contaminated instruments and disposal of sharps and biohazard waste.
• Monitor and maintain surgical equipment and instruments, reporting any malfunctions or needed repairs.
• Collaborate with circulating nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia providers to ensure efficient and safe patient care throughout the perioperative process.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with surgical techniques and technologies.
