About the position

The Surgery Scheduler plays a crucial role in coordinating surgical cases for patients across various age groups, ensuring that all necessary services, equipment, and supplies are acquired and organized for successful surgeries. This position involves preparing surgical schedules, managing patient charges, and collaborating with multiple departments to facilitate quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Book surgical cases for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and older adult patients for the OR and G.I. Lab.
• Coordinate and confirm the acquisition of services, equipment, instrumentation, and supplies from outside vendors for scheduled surgeries.
• Prepare and distribute the surgical schedule and on-call list to appropriate departments or personnel.
• Check, enter, and reconcile daily patient charges.
• Prepare and distribute monthly surgical statistics.
• Update the Surgery Schedules and complete the required Log Book.
• Answer phones and appropriately communicate messages.
• Assist OR Director and Charge Nurse with additional clerical duties.
• Work with coworkers, other departments, and outside companies to assist with the provision of safe, efficient, and quality patient care.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Medical Care Setting.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Strong clerical and computer skills.
• Command of the English language.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience in the OR preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
