About the position
The role involves providing direct patient care to support licensed professional nurses in a surgical unit, ensuring a safe environment for patients and contributing to their overall assessment and care. The position requires working 36 hours per week, primarily during the day, with a holiday rotation and every other weekend required.
Responsibilities
- Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family-centered care.
- Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), performs vital signs, and fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures.
- Collects clinical data and information on patients, reporting changes in patient status to the nurse.
- Assists nurse with patient and family education and documents all patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
- Acts as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary and ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet patient needs.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Engages in professional development activities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- No prior experience required
- Certified Nurse Assistant preferred
Nice-to-haves
- Experience as a CNA, nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician
