About the position

Under the direction of an assigned team member, provides care by selecting and assembling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for the surgical procedure: assisting with patient positioning and prep; managing clean and contaminated instruments and supplies; scrubbing for procedures and passing instruments. Must be able to anticipate, plan, and respond to the needs of the patient, surgeon, and other team members. Must be able to recognize and handle biohazard materials correctly. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients, patient families, coworkers, and physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Select and assemble instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Assist with patient positioning and preparation.
  • Manage clean and contaminated instruments and supplies.
  • Scrub for procedures and pass instruments to the surgical team.
  • Anticipate, plan, and respond to the needs of patients, surgeons, and team members.
  • Recognize and handle biohazard materials correctly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information.

Requirements

  • Completed High School education or GED.
  • Must be enrolled in a Surgical Technician Program.
  • Current CPR certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of general computer skills and applications.
