About the position
The Equipment Maintenance - Mechanical Technician is responsible for supporting operations related to the usage and maintenance of equipment at customer sites. This role serves as the primary customer interface for AIT's on-site activities, requiring strong communication and client service skills. The technician applies mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles to troubleshoot and restore equipment to operational status, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties in a safe and collaborative manner, reporting any safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Start up and shut down equipment according to operational requirements and safety procedures.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Receive and interpret instructions regarding repair, installation, and inspection work.
- Plan working procedures to determine material needs and logical approaches to repair problems.
- Promote and comply with good safety practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Provide technical assistance, including interpretation of drawings and recommendations for construction methods.
- Maintain relationships with internal and external clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Technician Certification or Associate's degree in a related field required.
- Secret clearance is required.
- Thorough understanding of controls software in an automated environment.
- Experience in performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining maintenance needs.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and measuring devices.
- Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
- Proficient in using computers and Microsoft Office applications.
