About The Position

The Economic Services Administration (ESA), Division of Child Support (DCS) is seeking a Support Enforcement Technician to join their team in Kennewick, WA. This role involves utilizing multiple computer applications to process child support referrals, post payments, and perform research for payment disbursement. The technician will also handle incoming calls. The work requires critical thinking, attention to detail, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, in-office position, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Two years of college-level coursework; OR Two years of customer service related experience within a program and/or services related to research, investigation, auditing, writing, reporting, administration, law enforcement, community relations, or allied field. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute year for year.
  • Demonstrate high standards of work attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to remain focused and motivated while performing multiple, repetitive assignments.
  • Ability to multitask and switch priorities with little notice in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Effectively comprehend and relay statutes, departmental regulations, and programs relating to child support.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service by communicating timely, consistently, and professionally on a daily basis with a diverse internal and external customer base.

  • Employees driving on state business must have a valid driver's license.
  • Employees driving a privately owned vehicle on state business must have liability insurance on the privately owned vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Accesses confidential information for program administration.
  • Reviews and responds to incoming information, including mail, electronic messages, and electronic data.
  • Categorizes and images case file documents for electronic retention.
  • Enters and maintains case data on the electronic Support Enforcement Management System (SEMS).
  • Reviews payments and performs research in SEMS for application to non-custodial parent cases.
  • Contacts employers for additional remittance information when needed.
  • Refers payments to Support Enforcement Officers (SEO) for further research or manual distribution.
  • Ensures SEMS records accurately reflect received documents and actions taken.
  • Adheres to internal controls for mail and cash handling, utilizing FMIS to maintain and post receipts accurately.
  • Processes all payments within 24 hours to ensure compliance with Federal requirements.
  • Prepares legal documents for certified mailing using SEMS.
  • Operates complex machinery and programs to image and index documents for electronic retention.
  • Assigns documents to electronic files using knowledge and independent judgment.
