About the position

The Supply Technician, General will support the Uniformed Services University's Logistics Division and be responsible for coordinating and organizing accountable and other property. The role involves applying knowledge of systems techniques and underlying management concepts in the execution of inventory, issue, relocation, and disposal of government property in the Logistic Division.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts periodic inventories of government owned property, equipment and material assigned to over 200 property custodial accounts.
  • Plans and conducts inventories to ensure accuracy of property books and effective accountability for all property.
  • Researches catalogs, purchase documents, equipment lists, manufacturers' specifications and other source documents to ensure proper identification of property.
  • Identifies missing items as well as items on-hand but not on the custodian's inventory.
  • Receives and reviews requests for equipment, furniture, and other material.
  • Maintains working contacts with other government activities who may be able to provide items from time to time by transfer in lieu of outside acquisition.
  • Reviews all non-expendable property vouchers, shipping tickets and transfer documents to assure accuracy, accountability of items and correct citation of nomenclature.
  • Assists in coordinating the transfer or loan of property between organizational units to ensure maximum utilization.
  • Prepares appropriate property vouchers or temporary hand receipt for the Government General Supply Specialist POC.
  • Performs research on existing equipment, obtains records and constructs individual hard copy and soft copy files that document the complete life cycle of a piece of equipment.
  • Coordinates initial actions for potential investigations for government property lost, damaged, and destroyed, stolen (GPLDS).
  • Provides advice and assistance to property custodians on accountability procedures.
  • Maintains information in automated databases; produces periodic and one-time reports.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates the relocation of items, equipment, and material within the University.
  • Assists in the physical movement of material.
  • Utilizes a variety of sophisticated and complex electronic data processing systems to accomplish daily operations.
  • Provides training to University Property Custodians and staff members on property accountability duties and techniques.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years' experience with property management principles, concepts, methods and procedures applicable to a single program of property accountability.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in managing and maintaining accountability of government property including conducting of inventories, automated record keeping, relocation and storage monitoring, and disposal transactions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge to assist in establishing property management instructions, regulations and directives.
  • Knowledge of standard analytical techniques in making determinations as to item identification and accountability.
  • Knowledge of techniques and procedures to operate a Joint Medical Logistics electronic data processing system.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
