About the position
The Supervisor of Correctional Education Programs is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering the Education Programs under the general supervision of the Chief Deputy Administrator and indirect supervision of the Warden. The role requires knowledge of school organization, administration, and the ability to integrate modern teaching theory and practice into vocational subjects within a prison setting. This position is a limited term of 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to 24 months or becoming permanent.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and administer the Education Programs.
- Integrate modern teacher theory and practice into vocational subjects.
- Ensure the education programs align with rehabilitative processes.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid standard administration or supervision credential.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures of school organization and administration.
- Experience in educational leadership, particularly in a correctional environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge and experience of current CDCR HR practices.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Supervisory or leadership experience.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
