About The Position

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner’s responsibility is to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of manpower, parts and material, and equipment access. Through supervision of the Maintenance Manager, this position is also responsible for maintenance of records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance related matter.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree with 5 to 7 years’ work experience in a supervisory/leadership role OR 9 to 11 years’ work experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory/leadership role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of process equipment maintenance and CIP
  • Hazmat/HAZWOPER experience
  • Emergency electrical generator and switchgear systems experience

Responsibilities

  • Principle contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Operations and other supported departments by ensuring that all internal partners of Maintenance receive timely, efficient and quality service
  • Short-range planning such as: Review planned backlog of work that is ready to execute and scheduling the work to maintenance technicians while minimizing scheduled overtime
  • Initial job screening; must obtain approval for all alteration and modification requests
  • Analysis of job requirements and priority, consulting with requestor and supervisor as appropriate
  • Job research using equipment history; consult engineering department and supervisor if alternate approach is necessary
  • Detailed job planning by selecting and describing the best way to perform the job, determining logical steps and resource requirements
  • Job preparation utilizing detailed work order, plan detail by task, labor deployment plan, bill of material, acquisition plan, required permits and clearances, and specifications for the assigned crew. As appropriate, the assembled package is reviewed with the Maintenance Manager and the requestor.
  • Procurement; purchasing sources all material requiring direct purchase, obtains necessary bids and delivery dates, receives all maintenance materials, and documents all requisitions.
  • Job scheduling and coordination; working as liaison between Maintenance and Operations (and all effected departments), allocates and coordinates the resources required for specific jobs, and most effective resource allocation.
  • Daily schedule adjustment; assists operating and maintenance superintendents and supervisors to finalize daily schedule
  • Job close out and follow up; reviews schedule compliance with Maintenance Manager, reports schedule status of individual jobs, receives from the Maintenance Manager the MWO’s for those jobs which have been completed, checks proper disposition of leftover materials, calculates schedule compliance and prepares associated reports
  • Maintain a task list/job plans library for reuse
  • Administrative responsibilities include custodianship of the CMMIS, essential records and files, interpretation and provision of historical equipment cost information, and performing other maintenance-related tasks and special assignments as requested by Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintain equipment records in Oracle
  • Update equipment records as equipment is installed or uninstalled (remove/add PMs, spare parts, and equipment numbers)
  • Maintain equipment attributes, such as criticality, type, and functional location to support repair analysis
  • Maintain equipment catalog profiles to drive part failure data collection on notifications
  • Lead weekly maintenance scheduling meetings (Thursdays)
  • Lead quarterly backlog meetings
  • Prepare weekly KPI metrics
  • Set up and maintain all predictive and preventative maintenance plans in Oracle to maximize equipment reliability
  • Determine the most effective method/tool to conduct preventative and predictive maintenance checks based on how critical equipment is
  • Set up PM plan in Oracle for each piece of equipment, including frequency, mechanic tasks, parts needs, tools needed, and safety procedures
  • Generate PM work orders in Oracle from the PM plans for the next 14 days
  • Monitor and report if PM work is being completed to maintain equipment reliability and comply with regulations and audits
  • Schedule and release PM work orders weekly to maintenance crews
  • Seek input from maintenance supervisors to continually improve and adjust PM plans based on equipment and part performance/failure
  • Work with storeroom clerks to add recommended spare parts to inventory
  • Monitor and analyze Oracle part failure data (along with supervisors and maintenance manager) to detect trends (good or bad)
  • Direct/assist onsite contractors that planner has called in
  • Assist & support maintenance manager/head of maintenance when absent
  • Spend 25% of the time on the production floor to monitor assets, build PM’s, work on corrective work order planning, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
