The position supervises staff in the processing and phlebotomy departments, with responsibilities including phlebotomy, collecting, preparing, and processing biological specimens.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required.
  • Two years of laboratory related experience required.
  • Phlebotomy certification required.
  • Must possess good organizational, communication, problem-solving and prioritization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal phlebotomy program preferred.
  • May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks.
  • Collects and processes specimens according to test requests and requirements.
  • Establishes and teaches best practices for specimen collection and processing in the clinical laboratory.
  • Aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies.
  • May be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results.
  • Ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment.
  • Oversees daily workflow to ensure patient and departmental needs are met.
  • Monitors staff behavior, performance and development and actively addresses issues as they present.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills with support, encouragement, and guidance to team members.
  • Demonstrates personal commitment to the principles, values, and ethics of the organization to promote a positive work environment.
