About the position

The Supervisor of Gas Transmission & Distribution - Leak Survey is responsible for managing teams involved in the operations and maintenance of the gas transmission and distribution system. This role ensures compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements while overseeing maintenance work, emergency responses, and mandated programs. The position is hybrid, allowing for remote work and flexibility within specified locations in California.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of gas craft employees, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve customers by ensuring timely completion of gas maintenance, construction, and regulatory work.
  • Manage emergency responses to requests, ensuring timely and quality service.
  • Monitor compliance to standards and specifications to achieve high-quality work.
  • Develop action plans to address deficiencies in processes or employee skills and track progress.
  • Ensure work is executed within scope, schedule, and cost expectations.
  • Identify and pursue productivity improvements to reduce operating costs while meeting compliance.
  • Complete and maintain all work documentation and reporting.
  • Communicate business goals and objectives to the work group and hold all accountable.
  • Develop business knowledge and technical skills of field employees and foster teamwork.
  • Ensure customer needs and expectations are met with proactive communication.
  • Implement and enforce safety best practices and compliance with safety programs.
  • Oversee projects and second-party contracting within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with mandated dates and regulations.
  • Review leak investigation documents and survey maps for accuracy.
  • Lead root-cause investigations on PG&E at-fault dig-ins and reportable events.
  • Monitor the Gas Operator Qualification Program and maintain qualification records.
  • Review department maintenance documents for accuracy before filing.

Requirements

  • High-School Diploma or GED
  • Valid California Driver's License or equivalent on day one of hire
  • 5 years of relevant experience in utility, maintenance, construction, operations, logistics, or service planning work
  • Subject to random DOT drug and alcohol testing
  • Regular travel to projects and field visits using personal vehicle
  • Ability to stand on and conduct emergency on-call duties and work unusual hours in emergencies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in gas compliance, leak survey, leak repair, and gas construction
  • Previous leadership experience, e.g., as a crew foreman
  • Experience leading union-represented employees
  • Utility experience
  • Experience serving and meeting the needs of internal and/or external customers
  • Ability to create, promote, and manage a safe work environment
  • Ability to manage day-to-day operations and implement improvements
  • Ability to develop working relationships with customers and business partners

  • Working knowledge of the IBEW Contract
  • General computer skills in MS Office and email communications
