About the position

The Supervising Pharmacist oversees the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy department, ensuring the highest quality health care service to customers. This role includes training and developing subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, and ensuring adherence to organizational policies. The pharmacist is responsible for implementing the Kinney Standard of Practice, dispensing prescriptions, counseling patients, and performing quality assurance steps to ensure accurate prescriptions are dispensed. Additionally, the pharmacist manages pharmacy inventory, oversees third-party claims, and ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy department.
  • Train and develop subordinate staff.
  • Estimate personnel needs and assign work.
  • Ensure adherence to the Kinney Standard of Practice.
  • Dispense prescriptions and counsel patients.
  • Perform quality assurance steps for accurate prescriptions.
  • Manage and balance pharmacy inventory.
  • Oversee submission and collection of third-party claims.
  • Maintain prescription files and records in compliance with guidelines.
  • Ensure optimal use of pharmacy technology.
  • Exhibit outstanding customer service.
  • Follow loss prevention policies and report deviations.
  • Implement corporate pharmacy marketing and promotional programs.
  • Maintain a clean and professional pharmacy environment.
  • Develop professional relationships with healthcare providers.
  • Integrate developments in Pharmacy and Health Care Services into practice.
  • Facilitate communication between professional staff and pharmacy personnel.
  • Assist in developing the pharmacy department operating budget.
  • Interact with Store Manager regarding hiring and performance reviews.
  • Assist in scheduling pharmacy staff to meet budget guidelines.
  • Attend required training and management programs.
  • Interface with auditors and outside agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Complete mandatory training programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS or Pharm D degree in Pharmacy.
  • Possess and maintain a valid State License and current registration to practice Pharmacy.
  • Ability to stand/walk throughout the majority of a shift.
  • Certified immunizer.
  • Previous experience as a Pharmacist.
