About the position

The Superintendent at Benchmark Masonry Inc. is responsible for overseeing and coordinating field activities on construction project sites. This role involves close collaboration with the Project Manager to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to safety standards. The Superintendent will manage subcontractors, maintain project documentation, and ensure quality control throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and supervise field employees' activities on the project site.
• Review project documents including plans and specifications thoroughly.
• Meet with the Project Manager to discuss project bidding, labor burden, and equipment costs.
• Understand all items of work and the budget for each work item.
• Endeavor to meet or better the construction budget.
• Familiarize with scheduling requirements to achieve or beat the project schedule.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers on the project.
• Handle daily project problems with assistance from the Project Manager as required.
• Layout projects for building locations and site work.
• Verify field dimensions when necessary.
• Keep the job site safe and clean.
• Responsible for project safety and EEO compliance.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the tool trailer and truck.
• Hire and lay off workers as required.
• Ensure quality control over work and subcontractors.
• Coordinate problem resolution with engineers and the owner.
• Maintain equipment and compile all field paperwork.
• Coordinate all project-related activities and ensure required equipment is on-site when needed.
• Help track change order work and extra work.
• Monitor and ensure timely completion of punch list items.
• Work in high, precarious places such as scaffolding and ladders.
• Work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat or cold.
• Review costs and keep updated with the help of the Project Manager.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Superintendent or similar role in construction.
• Strong understanding of construction processes and project management.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project documents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in construction.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with masonry projects is a plus.
• Familiarity with construction management software.
