Summer School: Art Teacher

About the position

Woodland School District 50 is seeking a Summer School Art Teacher for the upcoming summer session. The position is designed for educators who are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment. The Art Teacher will be responsible for implementing the district's curriculum, utilizing various instructional techniques, and contributing to a positive school climate. The role requires collaboration with other educators and staff to meet the needs of all students, including those with special needs. The position will run from June 9, 2025, to July 3, 2025, with working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Implement the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Response to Intervention (RtI)
• Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs and interests
• Support the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program
• Order materials and supplies within budgetary constraints
• Collaborate with other art teachers on planning art history and various mediums
• Work with staff to meet the needs of students with special needs
• Maintain control of school-owned property and supplies
• Evaluate and maintain records of student attendance and performance
• Communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding student progress
• Supervise students in the classroom and during special events
• Participate in team, department, and faculty meetings
• Plan and present art displays and exhibitions
• Provide instruction to reinforce artistic concepts
• Guide students in selecting appropriate elective projects
• Adhere to all school and district policies and procedures

Requirements

• Illinois Professional Educator License valid for Grades 1-8 with art endorsement
• Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and/or Art Education
• Teaching or student teaching experience

Nice-to-haves

• Teaching or student teaching experience in an elementary or middle school art classroom
