About the position

The Summer Camp Assistant Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator in all Chandler-Newberger summer camps. This includes the collection of summer camp Epact Emergency forms and the supervision of camp directors, counselors, assistant counselors, and volunteers. The role also involves assisting in camp communications and trainings, ensuring the safety of individuals in camps, and managing various camp activities and logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Attend mandatory staff training sessions
  • Assist in planning and instructing program activities and games as needed
  • Responsible for the safety of individuals in camps
  • Assist in supervising and leading participants in daily camp activities and field trips when needed
  • Assist in the management of Epact Emergency Forms
  • Responsible for lunch supervision of camps when needed
  • Assist in camp communications with patrons
  • Responsible for assisting in delivering camp supplies
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled by Program Coordinator
  • Enforce late pick up policy and ensure all participants are properly dismissed to caregiver
  • Responsible for care and maintenance of camp equipment and storage areas
  • Assist in completing written reports such as accident, incident on a timely basis
  • Responsible for assisting in maintenance of all camp paperwork
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator

Requirements

  • Experience working with children
  • At least 2 years' experience working in a camp setting
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursement available)
  • First Aid/CPR certified or able to obtain prior to start date
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Ability to read staff manuals, memos, and attendance sheets
  • Ability to complete attendance sheets, accident reports, incident reports and camper behavior reports using prescribed format
  • Ability to give verbal direction to subordinates, communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, citizens, and the public as well as other employees
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are more than those for sedentary work.
