About the position
The R D Procurement Intern at Alcon will support the procurement function within the Research and Development department, gaining hands-on experience in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and data analysis. This internship is designed to provide valuable insights into the procurement process while contributing to cost-saving initiatives and supplier performance metrics.
Responsibilities
- Analyze spending data to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics.
- Conduct supplier market analysis to identify potential new suppliers.
- Assist in the creation and management of eSourcing events.
- Support the development and evaluation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Conduct supplier due diligence and reference checks.
- Develop and maintain should-cost models for R D materials and services.
- Analyze supplier pricing and cost structures to identify potential cost reductions.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Spend Category Team on cross-functional procurement initiatives.
- Assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college for at least one semester prior to internship or co-op, and at least one additional semester following internship or co-op.
- Must be pursuing at least a bachelor's level degree in supply chain management, business administration or related major.
- Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0.
- Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects).
- Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship (students on an F1 visa with CPT can be accommodated).
- Ability to commit to a full time (40 hrs. per week) Intern position.
