About the position
This position is for a substitute teacher on an as-needed basis. The pay structure varies based on certification status and the length of the assignment. Certified teachers will receive a higher daily rate compared to non-certified teachers. Long-term substitutes, defined as those who work 30 or more consecutive days for the same person, will also receive a different pay rate depending on their certification status.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to students in the absence of the regular teacher
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher
- Assess student performance and provide feedback
- Communicate with school staff and parents as necessary
Requirements
- Must hold a valid active Texas Educator Certificate for certified positions
- High school diploma or equivalent for non-certified positions
- Experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred
Nice-to-haves
- Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques
- Ability to adapt to different classroom environments
