Responsibilities

  • Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students in a classroom.
  • Monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance.
  • Assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Graduation from high school and some experience working with children and/or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Copy of SCOE Para Educator Proficiency Test Certificate or equivalent (e.g., SCOE ESSA/NCLB test certificate, CBEST, or transcripts showing date AA Degree or higher was awarded).

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual skills in a designated second language.
  • Sign language skills.
