About the position
The Substitute Elementary Lunchroom/Playground Supervisor is responsible for overseeing meal service for elementary school students, ensuring a smooth and safe environment during lunch and recess. This position involves various tasks such as maintaining proper meal temperatures, supervising students, handling cash transactions, and performing general housekeeping duties. The role requires interaction with children, assisting them with their meals, and ensuring their safety during lunch and recess activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist children during lunch by opening their milk, snacks, juices, or lunches.
- Ensure cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas.
- Deposit student money, scan lunch tickets or IDs, count cash, and run end-of-the-day reports for participation and deposits.
- Take note of allergies and ensure students are seated properly to avoid harm.
- Monitor student behavior and inform the principal of any issues.
- Maintain cleanliness of milk coolers and heating cabinets weekly.
- Line students up in an orderly manner for recess and ensure they are quiet in the halls.
- Supervise students during recess to ensure their safety.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Principal or Nutrition Services Coordinator.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED program.
- Ability to relate to and enjoy being around children.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of people.
- Demonstrate fundamental math skills.
- Ability to physically perform all duties associated with the position.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
