About the position
The substitute custodian position at Aberdeen School District is an on-call role that requires candidates to complete and submit an online employment application. Placement is based on the daily needs of the district, with no guarantee of work on any given day. The custodian will work under the direction of the building principal and the maintenance and custodial manager, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the facilities and equipment. This role also involves promoting positive public relations for the district.
Responsibilities
- Sweeping, mopping, spot cleaning, vacuuming, and extraction cleaning of carpeted floors.
- Cleaning and sanitizing lavatory fixtures and facilities, refilling dispensers, and cleaning interior and exterior window surfaces.
- Emptying recycle containers and trash/garbage, and dusting interior surfaces.
- Following safe workplace practices and proper chemical use and storage.
- Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Locking and unlocking buildings and securing them when not in use.
- Working cooperatively with building staff, students, and the community.
- Maintaining confidentiality and following directions as assigned.
- Organizing time and maintaining a schedule.
- Complying with all district policies, building procedures, and schedules.
Requirements
- Pass a WSP/FBI fingerprint criminal background clearance (applicant's expense).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
