About the position
The Substance Use Counselor position at Groups Recover Together focuses on providing comprehensive outpatient treatment for opioid addiction. The role emphasizes group therapy as a primary method of support, working within a cross-functional care team to deliver holistic clinical services. Counselors will lead group sessions, manage caseloads, and engage with community stakeholders to promote recovery and support members in their journey towards sobriety.
Responsibilities
- Lead the treatment team and coordinate decisions about the member's treatment.
- Manage a schedule and caseload that supports the needs of the office and region.
- Collaborate with other team members regarding the clinical service model.
- Lead 2-3 one-hour group therapy sessions that build recovery skills and foster community.
- Document members' progress using outcome measures and client feedback.
- Proactively engage in community relations activities.
- Distribute brochures and written materials to community stakeholders promoting Groups and its mission.
- Attend and participate in community meetings related to substance abuse and addiction topics.
Requirements
- Master's degree required.
- Active behavioral health licensure preferred, including AADC, LPC, LICSW, and associate level status with ability and willingness to obtain licensure reciprocity in other states.
- Compassion, collaboration, commitment to quality care, and an investment in member success.
- Ability to work 2-3 evenings per week up to 9pm as needed.
Nice-to-haves
- Background in mental health, social work, substance use disorder treatment, therapy, human services, or social services.
- Experience with medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
