About the position

The Learning Experience team at Chegg Skills is seeking a subject matter expert in Web Development or Software Engineering to support the creation of curriculum content aimed at maximizing student learning and career outcomes. This role involves collaboration with various professionals to validate curriculum designs for online learning programs targeted at adults, ensuring that the materials effectively support students in mastering Full Stack Software Engineering skills.

Responsibilities

  • Offer prompt, clear, specific, and research-backed insights on how to prepare learners for a career in the field.
  • Collaborate with Instructional Designers (IDs) to validate and refine the objectives, skills, and topics taught in program(s).
  • Provide subject-matter related feedback on curriculum design assets and materials, including program outlines, lesson outlines, case studies, assessments, videos, and images.
  • In collaboration with IDs, develop relevant and realistic workplace scenarios, examples, and case studies that can be used in learning content like application activities, demo videos, and assessments.
  • Advise on how to create industry-aligned, customized learning paths for various web development specializations.
  • Consistently deliver content that meets set criteria and is on time to support our program launch roadmap.
  • Create assets to support lesson plans, student activities, and written curriculum content such as formative and summative assessments, individual projects and presentations, and video scripts for topic and demonstration videos.

Requirements

  • Degree in software engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Full Stack Software Engineering with an emphasis in JavaScript, React, Application Deployment, GitHub, Programming Fundamentals, Frontend Web Development, and Backend Web Development.
  • Previous experience developing Software Engineering curriculum for adults related to topics like: For Loops, Arrays, Robust Server Structure, HTML/CSS, Backend Deployment, Data Structure and Algorithms.
  • Collaborative, with excellent project management skills and follow through.
  • Excellent writing skills, capable of producing high-quality prose and presentations, and able to write about complicated concepts in a beginner-friendly way.
  • Comfort with scripting and recording demo videos.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft tools (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Ability to work remotely with flexible hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in contributing to or creating educational curricula and training programs.
  • Ability to advise on learning paths that cater to different levels of expertise and career specializations in Web Development.
  • Experience collaborating with Instructional Designers.
  • Experience with Adult Learning Theories.
  • Proven capability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions.
